Why our work matters
On the frontlines of the climate crisis.
The Gambia is one of Africa's most climate-vulnerable nations, ranked among the ten countries most at risk from coastal erosion and sea-level rise. Rising seas are swallowing the coastline of Banjul. Erratic rainfall is crippling farming communities. Despite contributing less than 0.01% to global emissions, Gambian communities bear some of the heaviest burden of the climate crisis.
Clean Earth Gambia was founded in 2017 to meet this crisis head on. We mobilise and empower young people, women, children, and communities to lead the climate solutions their country urgently needs from planting trees on the beaches of Banjul to shaping climate policy at the United Nations.
